Examinations
All students who attend TMBSS are able to sit their GCSE exams in the summer of year 11 in one of our five secondary centres.
Every year, our aim is to ensure as many of our students as possible leave us with 5 or more GCSEs. We support our students to study and sit exams in many of their option subjects that they chose to study from their previous school.
Where students have faced significant challenges and disruption to their KS4 education, we strive to support them to achieve at least a qualification in English and Maths and ensure they have a sound plan and support for post 16.
At TMBSS, we are extremely proud of the results our students have achieved.
Individual GCSE exam timetables will be issued to students at the end of March, once all this entry information has been confirmed.
Practical and speaking exams will be scheduled during the school day before the external exams start – subject teachers will give students this information in due course.

Examinations Information for Summer 2026
The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) have declared that Wednesday 24th June 2026 will be the contingency day for the Summer 2026 examinations. The 24th June 2026 is the last date that any exam can take place, should it have to be moved from its original time/date. The JCQ states: “The designation of a ‘contingency day’ within the common examination timetable is in the event of national or local disruption to examinations. It is part of the awarding bodies’ standard contingency planning for examinations”. All students should be available up to and including 24th June 2026.
Exam Results Day 2026
GCSE Results day is Thursday 20th August 2026 – students results will be posted out first class on Thursday 20th August 2026.
Students can pick up results from 10am to 1pm, Thursday 20th August, from
Sundorne Education Centre, 218 Sundorne Road, Shrewsbury, SY1 4RG
A form of ID will need to be shown before the results will be given out.
Gemma Parkes, Careers Manager will also be available at these times at Sundorne Education Centre if you have any queries.
