KS3 have looked at the artist Gwen Murphy and her shoe sculptures. Students chose a shoe from a collection of all different shapes and sizes and then adapted it to create the sculpture of their chosen animal. Using the shoe as a base for paper mache. We have had students create cheetahs, giraffes, horses and fish.

This student was inspired by the print of the shoe, and even used parts of the insole as ears. Other students were inspired by the shape of the shoe to form their animal’s face.
