Attingham House Nature Walk

Oswestry students visited Attingham House to walk for pleasure.

Students from the Oswestry Centre visited Attingham House and explored the vast parkland to spot wildlife as they walked.

On the journey to the village of Atcham, where Attingham House is found, the students and staff enjoyed some classic family travel games, challenging each other to remember items in made-up lists.

Once there, we all trooped out across the country parkland in the hope of spotting some of the deer population that live in the park. Fortunately, we were very lucky to see the entire herd sheltering under the trees. We were able to quietly creep closer to the deer, with their beady eyes watching us.

After watching the deer, we walked into the woodland area and were able to spot several different species of bird. We saw robins, great tits, black birds, and a treecreeper. We even spotted a pair of mallard ducks walking along the woodland path, as if part of our group! One of the students even tried their best to blend in with the surroundings to become at one with nature!

On the approach back to the bus, we caught the sound of woodpecker tapping on the trunk of a tree.

It was a wonderful day, with plenty of wildlife observed.
