Caption Winners Crowned

Students and staff at Bridgnorth’s Secondary Centre were celebrating a win this week as they were crowned victors of a weekly international caption competition.

Every Thursday students from Bridgnorth Centre take part in two activities organised by The Day, a news website which provides current affairs resources and information which we use in many of our lessons.  The main activity is The Quiz, which poses ten multiple-choice questions about the previous week’s news, opening debate and discussion between students and staff and helping our young people to develop their oracy skills.  The other activity is a Caption Competition, where schools are invited to submit three possible captions for a photo which appears alongside the quiz.  There were whoops and cheers this week when Bridgnorth Centre was named as Winners of this week’s competition.  It was exciting to see that we had beaten all the other participating schools, nationally and internationally, and will encourage us all to keep coming up with cliches, puns and all manner of clever ideas in a bid to retain our caption crown.

Why not take a look at next week’s The Day competition photo of the duck and the unicorn and come up with your own caption?
