Oswestry Students ‘Go All In’ for World Book Day

This World Book Day, students from Oswestry joined thousands of children from schools across the UK on a live webinar hosted by some of football’s biggest names and sports-related authors.

‘The Great Big World Book Day Footy and Booky Quiz 2026’, streamed live from the Premier League HQ, tested students’ knowledge of football as well as well-known children’s book trivia. Our year 8 students, achieved a superb 19/20 over two quiz rounds, seeing them rank amongst the highest scoring teams in the country.

The event was organised by the National Literacy Trust and The Premier League as part of the National Year of Reading 2026.

Other students in Centre celebrated World Book Day by looking at the language used to create character descriptions and drawing their interpretations of Mrs. Twit and The Trunchbull from Roald Dahl’s well-loved books, The Twits and Matlida.
