Flavours of Fresh Bread

To kick-start their Design and Technology topic of 'Bread Making', students from HEC visited two different supermarkets and carried out their own bread tasting. 

A group of students from HEC visited the bakeries at Morrisons and Lidl to explore the wide range of breads available, comparing the shapes and flavours from each store. The students also had the opportunity to step behind the scenes to look at the equipment used by the bakers. They talked about the ingredients used, and selected a range of breads to purchase. Back at school, the students carried out a tasting session, sampling their chosen breads and discussing textures, flavours, and which of the breads they preferred. The students will use this experience to inspire the design of the breads they bake at school.
