Health, Well-Being & Fitness

Health, Fitness and Well-being enables children to develop knowledge, skills and vocabulary in a broad range of physical activities and classroom-based practice. This will help develop values and transferrable life skills such as tolerance, fairness and respect. TMBSS are passionate about the need to teach pupils how to co-operate and collaborate with others, as part of a team, understanding fairness and to embed these life-long values.

Through the lesson-based and enrichment activities, we aim to raise the profile of Health, Fitness and Well-being and expose our pupils to a wide range of sports and activities.

TMBSS recognises and values the importance of Health, Fitness and Wellbeing. We aim to deliver a fun, high-quality curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed and enjoy sports and other physical activities.

In this area of study pupils will understand and develop the skills to:

• make informed decisions in order to improve their physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing

• experience challenge and enjoyment through sporting activities

• experience positive aspects of healthy living and activity for themselves

• apply their physical, mental, emotional and social skills to pursue a healthy lifestyle

• establish a pattern of health and wellbeing which can be sustained into adult life
